I went on Sunday, with a buddy from work. I didn't see any forum members, just waved at a Silver SMB passing by... guy with a beard. Much better weather Sunday, the wind on Saturday was rough. One of the vendors reported their canopy was sucked up into a dust devil and went flying.... I guess better than snow and mud...

Anyway I just took some photos of some of the stuff that interested me.

These chairs looked cool, but the sales person wasn't around...

I really liked this solar hot water heater... It gave me an idea to make one out of black ABS drain pipe though.. a lot cheaper than $270...

Not sure what the story was with these space tents..... Maybe for Mars Overlanding...

These 4x4 guide books from Funtrek.com looked really cool.... And the sales person said they will be offering them in an iPad (iBooks) and Amazon formats in a couple of weeks. They have hard copies, and GPS cards available now.

And in a moment of weakness, the only thing I bought was this 30 watt solar panel from Goal Zero. $200 for the whole enchilada..

I stopped by the Alumniness display, and spoke to the sales person there. I was interested in a spare tire carrier. I asked if there were any deals to be had, he said no, that there was an agreement with the other vendors that no deals were to be had. No coupons? No free shipping? NOPE. Nothing, nada. Sayonara.

They sell a LOT of bumpers through SMB. SMB doesn't want Aluminess to undercut them, so Aluminess is pretty strict selling direct as well as with their other vendors.

Those chairs were nice. I sat in them and chatted with the owner. Not cheap though, $260 / chair. Very well built, american materials, and american made.

You are correct. Check the Grid and Mesh wheels - small differences.

Boris & Christi, I think we talked about our 1Up bike rack but I didn't connect you with your forum post -- some many people from Minneapolis, you know. It was a pleasure meeting you. Best wishes with your build. Looking forward to seeing the final product (if there is such a thing) on the road one day.

A shout out to Gooseberry, too. Nice meeting you finally.

I have to say this was one of the best expos I have attended and was able to meet great people.

I just made it home and need to relax a few days to absorb everything.

WTH? That's a big motivation to attend (or not attend) Overland Expo.
