Re: Help with Southern California Trip

If you're looking for a beach, there's the Rincon parkway just north of Ventura. I would only recommend it if you're really into the beach, as there's nothing else there, and you're within easy earshot of Highway 1 and the 101, so noise is a factor. There are no hookups either, and you'll be end to end to end with a lot of other people, but all you have to do is walk out your SMB, climb down the breakwater and there's the beach.

Re: Help with Southern California Trip

Not the Help you're looking for but:
Sit in front
Face forward
Fresh air (windows not A/C)
Don't read or navigate, watch the road
Consume lots of ginger, ginger and more ginger.

I mix powdered ginger and water every 1/2 hour, it's awful stuff but it works. Coarse grind is better. You can also get all kinds of ginger from candy to chews to raw. "Ginger People" make some good chews. It takes a lot of ginger for me to feel OK, and very little for me to get... uh, can't think about it. The more raw and the more coarse seems to be better... haven't actually tried chewing on a root, but I would. The powder is pretty brutal, but better then being car sick.

Anyway, nothing wrong with driving shorter... I'm trying to be less serious about how far I get and spend more time enjoying the road.

worth a try buddy, will do
tried:
wrist bands - no
travel ease - no
dramimine - works but puts her in a coma
scopolimine patch - works but makes her too thirsty
boname for children - works but makes her groggy

sometimes, no car sick at all
sometimes, 1/2 mile to grocery store she gets queasy
(every Thai girl i ever dated got car sick... must be genetic)

I love candied ginger--hot and sweet. Does it work for motion sickness?

Re: Help with Southern California Trip

How about either San Bernadino national forest near Big Bear, or Los Padres national forest out side of Santa Barbara. I'm staying in Capistrano Beach right now and have been eyeballing those spots myself. Dont have any specific locations for you, but looks like plenty of area to explore. Think you only need a adventure pass to camp outside of designated campgrounds.
