Hey you So Cal types. Potrero

Meet up on March 15th at Potrero?? http://www.sdcounty.ca.gov/parks/Camping/potrero.html

Spending one night there before we cross at Tecate on the 16th. If you're in the neighborhood, and own your own business that allows you to go camping on a Monday evening (or you are "between jobs"), come on over.

Re: Hey you So Cal types. Potrero

I know, but can't do it. Getting a 62 gal tank installed at Aero Tanks in San Bernardino Monday March 15 at 7:30AM. Will wrap that up at approx 1:30PM. From there, its off to Potrero for the night before we cross. Hoping there's time to run across to take care of paperwork on the 15th, but I kinda doubt it. How do you folks put up with the traffic down there??? I was handsome, in great shape, and had a full head of hair before I drove in S. Cal traffic. Now look at me.

Well in san Diego traffic only exists during rush hour. Except rush hour lasts about 3 hours

Best thing don't travel from 730am to 930. And again at 3-630pm.

What will your return plans be like?

Returning I suspect we'll cross at Mexicali around the 25th-26th. Hard to say. We'll be on "Baja Time", so perhaps on the 28th or 27th, 24th, or 26th..... We'll just have to see if we've recharged enough to come back to the rat race.

Re: Hey you So Cal types. Potrero

Hello Deminimis,
We just returned from Baja via your route. Potrero was nice but I thought $20 bucks was too much to pay. It took us 12 hours to reach Gererro Negro from Tecate due to the 2 bridges being out south of Ensenada. You will also encounter road work about 25 miles from Tecate. You should have no problem now with fuel. This was our first trip driving down Baja and aside from the road conditions we were stunned by the beauty all around. Next time we will hook up with some experienced Bajaers so we can see what's "down that road". We stayed on pavement mostly and stopped in Loreto for a week to visit friends at Nopolo. The Army check points were no problem going south but coming back we got inspected everytime.
Hope your trip goes well.
Chris

Re: Hey you So Cal types. Potrero

Thanks for the update. Due to time, going to stay at the border parking lot and cross first thing as the sun comes up. TJ, this time

Thanks again.
