Hey Ray, We were up there too this past week! drove up on Sunday with dry roads after all the mayhem subsided, and made it back with dry roads yesterday ( Thursday)

Friday the whole top was scheduled to open so hope you got some open powder turns.

Took my friends from tahoe over 9 hours to drive down ( they had to drive through benton and Nevada side on the 6 highway which was literally like an episode of Ice road truckers. they crawled along with bowling ball sized ice chunks on an unplowed highway 6!!

Sounds like you've really been able to dial in your winter set up. Curious as to the heat plates you mentioned. Can you link to those?

Yep, those pictures look familiar!! Yet, today the roads in Mammoth and 395 are all clear including the sidewalks in some places. Two beautiful days of sun and temps in the 30's. But, more weather systems due in tomorrow afternoon through Monday morning.

We are headed out to SLC tomorrow morning via Tonapah /Ely/ Wendover. Likely overnight in Ely or Wendover.

re: Heating pads/system for the Lith batteries:

I followed part of Hein's approach.
4 x 25watt 12vdc silicone heating pads
4PCS Silicone Heater Mat,... https://www.amazon.com/dp/B075WVPP5Y...p_mob_ap_share

2 x Thermostats
XH-W3001 Digital LED Temperature... https://www.amazon.com/dp/B08QZ5VRYC...p_mob_ap_share

I used 3M 90 Hi temp adhesive to affix the pads to the underside of a piece of 1/8" Aluminum cut to the size of the base of the battery for heat distribution. We have two batteries and I wired one heating pad on each battery to one thermostat and the other two pads to the second thermostat. My thought was in not so cold temps, say mid 20's, I would be able to use just one circuit. Each circuit has independent switches.

The temps have been cold enough to use both circuits. Both thermostats are currently set to come on at 35F and off at 43F. The temp probe for the thermostats is taped to the side of the battery. The batteries are in a below floor compartment that is insulated with 1" Polyiso insulation along the sides and bottom. The top of the compartment is accessible from inside the cabin.

I do not have a measurement of how often/long the heaters are actually on. I do have bluetooth feeds from the batteries themselves do I can check the temperature.

It has been working well, so far.

Saw this in the parking lot at Canyon Lodge - Mammoth. A crowded lot with people walking a long way from where they had to park. There actually was a car parked in the spot next to it almost under the passenger side push out but it was a low profile sedan. The rig Push Outs extended on both sides. Still .......

Skied Solitude today for the first time ever. Great day on a wonderful, small, chill mountain with lots of intermediate to expert runs.

Beastie in the parking lot at the end of the day. So awesome to be able to have our space at the bottom of the mountain to de-gear, warm up and have a cup of hot chocolate!!

Love solitude. Haven’t been there in 20+ years though. Are you going to hit any of the others in the area? Does powder mountain or Brighton participate in the collective pass deal?

Brighton is on the IKON, and it blows away Soitude in regards to Terrain, , although I love the Honeycombs on the top of solitude!!
