Yep, those pictures look familiar!! Yet, today the roads in Mammoth and 395 are all clear including the sidewalks in some places. Two beautiful days of sun and temps in the 30's. But, more weather systems due in tomorrow afternoon through Monday morning.
We are headed out to SLC tomorrow morning via Tonapah /Ely/ Wendover. Likely overnight in Ely or Wendover.
re: Heating pads/system for the Lith batteries:
I followed part of Hein's approach.
4 x 25watt 12vdc silicone heating pads

I used 3M 90 Hi temp adhesive to affix the pads to the underside of a piece of 1/8" Aluminum cut to the size of the base of the battery for heat distribution. We have two batteries and I wired one heating pad on each battery to one thermostat and the other two pads to the second thermostat. My thought was in not so cold temps, say mid 20's, I would be able to use just one circuit. Each circuit has independent switches.
The temps have been cold enough to use both circuits. Both thermostats are currently set to come on at 35F and off at 43F. The temp probe for the thermostats is taped to the side of the battery. The batteries are in a below floor compartment that is insulated with 1" Polyiso insulation along the sides and bottom. The top of the compartment is accessible from inside the cabin.
I do not have a measurement of how often/long the heaters are actually on. I do have bluetooth feeds from the batteries themselves do I can check the temperature.
It has been working well, so far.
