Jiminy does another road trip May 1st to the 8th.

Looks like time is flying by and we are getting ready to head to Oregon and Washington ( Mt St Helens at least ). Claudine has some Ideas on what she wants to see like Crator lake and the area by Medford then head up to Mt St Helens and that area.

we plan on doing some mt biking in each area that we can. I hope to have my new bike to ride.

So If any of you have some places that we should not miss I'm open for Idea's as I kinda like to go by the seat of pants on these things. Work gives enough schedules.

I like the backside (east side) of Mt. St. Helens better than the frontside. It is a little out of the way, but well worth the trip.

Have fun,

Mike

There is some sweet mtn. biking to be had in the Bend area. The upper trails won't be open yet I imagine but the lower ones should be.

you will hit snow around 3000 feet at Helen's area. Too early for biking.

Re: Jiminy does another road trip May 1st to the 8th.

OK this is the trip report.

We started early on Sunday morning to head to Tehema and see family but with a few hours of day still at hand we stopped and said hi then keep going.

Sorry no picture of it but we stopped at the Sun dial bridge in Redding and road some trails around the area.

Then We went east on the 44 to Lassen for the night and found a nice spot just before the park.

The next morning we drove into the park ( road said open and what do my park friends know about closed roads anyway) A few miles in we hit a 15 foot wall of snow and turned around.

So instead of heading back to the 5 we opted to go right on the 44 and find our way north and found this Gem. A small sign on the side of the road called the Subway

So now we are on the 97 heading north to Klamath falls only to find no falls but one of the leakiest inlet tubes for Hydro I have ever seen.

So Claudine gets to drive Jiminy on the Road for the first time and finds out its not a handful to drive like she thought.

So by this time Goose is bored and would like a walk
So we stop Just north of Klamath Falls and take in the Logging museum.

So after a couple of good hikes we start out in the morning for Crater lake and it was perfect.

Our plan was to have lunch in Bend Oregon so Claudine finds me a brew pub and we stop. I liked the beer a little to much so we stayed and did some Mt Biking in Bend and will go back.

So after Bend our plan was to head to the Columbia River but we went Riding again and made the decision to go to Salem and save that part for next time.

Once in the Salem area we we to Silver Falls state park and stayed for the night and did some hiking and checked out the falls.

On our hike by the camp ground we ran across a Beaver up on the trail but he was in the water before the camera was out.

Goose liked the drive down the 5 with all the cows. AKA moomoo's

Bugs did say bugs. had to clean the windows at every stop.

So we made it to emigrant lake and stopped in the tent camp area but was a little uncomfortable with the other party groups in the camp ground. So we hit the RV section.

Our next stop was for lunch in Napa at Gotts Roadside. OMG they have great burgers.

Full and happy we head south to San Jose and our first traffic for the trip. Then make our way to camp in Watsonville. Once there we rally do not like the area we chose to camp so we check out a KOA ouch $52 for a tent spot. no way. We head for the hills looking for a forest road but find a nice camping area just in Santa Clara county on the 152.

Claudine wanted to check out the Los Lobos reserve so I dropped her off ( no dogs at all allowed) and went down the road to beach that allowed dogs and let Goose play.

Made it home and have a bunch more to see and go back to.
