Kelly Point Overlook - Grand Canyon

Phil, the high top on the van was the limiting factor. We had to stop a lot and clear branches to get through. The other guys could have done it much quicker. It's making me rethink the high top for this kind of travel. I may be building a pop top version. Our buddy in his Landcruiser had it best of course but Kelly breezed through everything too.

The high top also limited me from picking a line which helped destroy the tires. I had to drive over the worst/sharpest rocks.

Brent, Forgot about your high top. That would have definitely slowed travel down. Hope you had a good saw as I know I used my bow saw a lot going in there.

My buddy with his FJ Cruiser was always way ahead of me on the trail when I went in. On this trail, size does matter.

On the plus side, the trail is now fully SMB ready wether high top of PH top.

Phil, we had a chainsaw and a pruning chainsaw. Both saw action the pruning chainsaw saw the most with the hightop. Many thanks to Kelly and Tien for the help getting through.

Just left Lake Mead through the Valley Of Fire heading home. Going to take awhile to go through Everthing but I'll try to get a few more pics up soon.

The trail is clear enough to get through with a hightop but you will still be scraping paint the whole way both ways as we only cleared the big ones.

IMO, this camp spot is worth every bit of that! I now want to go back.

From the looks of things the only thing that has been through that road in a LOONG time has been side by-sides or quad's. The slow going part was getting the overhanging branches out of the way and it was really 30 miles that slowed us up.

Thanks for an epic trip without you guys it wouldn't have been the same. Great time my friends, definitely lifetime memories.

The 7+ hours that we took to cover the last 20 miles sure as heck beats the 2 hours traffic jam on I-15 going home today.

Can't wait for our next epic adventure.

Last night on the road we stayed at Stewarts Point on Lake Mead. There are a lot of these points that can be camped on.

On the way out we drove through the Valley of Fire. Another great place to return to. There were great campsites there on a first come first serve basis.
