Leavitt Lake (CA, Stanislaus NF)- 2WD locked

Dear all

After quite some time of silence from my side due to other topics I finally had a nice trip going to Leavitt Lake.
Due to fire restricitions we decided to camp down at Pinecrests Meadowview Campground. Got the last spot during this busy Labor Day weekend.

From Pinecrest we did a day trip to Leavitt Lake. You can find a lot of videos online. They roughest part is marked in the screenshot below.

I made that tough spot in slight rain, slight mud and everything was wet. The locker came in handy and we could maneuver above and around the obstacles. Of course the Jeeps were quicker, but on the other hand very impressed I made it with a big van and 2WD

The lake greeting contain heavy storm and rain, so we didn’t stay long. But all in all it was a fun trip and we’ll come back with more sun! :-)

Did they finally cut off driving and camping on the south side of the lake? I haven't been up there in a couple years.
One of my favorite local camping spots. Glad you had a good time. Thanks for the report.

To be honest: we didn’t even go there as the weather sooo bad :-)
But checking on google satellite images it looks like the south loop is as mich ridden as the north part.

I looked at my pics from summer 2020 and there are definitely folks camped down at that end of the lake.
