There is no 'village' on the North Rimjust a visitor Center, lodging, campground, stores and some great scenery. Not many buildings to see. If you can get a site at the campground it is worth staying there. Nice hike to the lodge from the campground. A mile or so in the other direction takes you to the Bright Angel trail, Widforss Trail, Uncle Jim Trail all of which are worth hiking multiple times.
