Mebbe just sell the van and use Google street view....

OK, so I was trying to plan a trip in central NV, and other points (see other post if you've got ideas).

So of course I fired up Chrome and spent some time with street view. I can't believe how much of the west they've photographed; it's hard to find places they haven't gone. Must be weird driving around like that; you can tell from weather and season that sometimes the person got a lot of miles in one far-flung area in a short time (like Los Padres just about right now). I just got finished cruising around on Nacimiento-Ferguson road, and after looking at their pix I wonder why I bothered

And sometimes it's kind of arty. Check out 38.446474,-117.202409 for example. Or search on the tiny hamlet of Belmont in NV; looks like the Google dude just drove up there, can't imagine why. In other places in NV it seems they just ran out of sun; it kinda randomly stops.

And there's so little traffic....

Add in the Photos function, and you get an idea of just how much we swarm over every square inch of the west. Seems like every place is documented ('cept Dick Cheney's house...).
