Re: Meet and Greet at Valley of Fire, October 7-9,2011

The Valley of Fire Meet and Greet is now just two weeks away. It's time for those iffy, maybe, possibly people -- and anyone else who wants to -- to commit to join us. It should be a lot of fun. There will be at least 25 rigs there. There are no planned activities. Just a nice place to get together and do whatever you want in a gorgeous setting. You can either go and explore (plenty of places for that) or just sit in camp and enjoy the perfect weather.

I'm looking forward to seeing everyone there!

If this were Facebook, I'd 'like' this post.

Of course I'd have to be 'friends' with Mac for being such a cool guy for putting this all together too!

If time allowed, we'd be there in a heartbeat - sounds like the trip of the year!

I think it will be the trip of the year . There are 26 confirmed rigs coming . Sadly, Nomadcat, from New York, probably will not make it now because of his work schedule . Sorry you can't make it Rockbender. Maybe you could come down with AndrewST.

I haven't heard yet from danamrak, stiggs, Advanturetrek or witoke if they are going to make it. And, of course, anyone could still just drop by. The Valley of Fire isn't very far for any Arizona, Utah, Nevada or So. California SMB folks. Someone may wake up the morning of October 6th or 7th and just decide to drive on over. We'll find a place for them if they do.

Meanwhile, for those who are boldly going where not so many Sportsmobiles have gone before, here's is a preview of what you will see in the Valley of Fire. It is the place where Captain James T. Kirk, of the Starship Enterprise, finally met his fate. He died on Silica Dome after he and Captain Picard joined together in fighting Soran to stop the Nexus. My son has pieces of the metal bridge that collapsed and killed Captain Kirk.

Just think, you can stand on the top of Silica Dome where Captain Kirk was buried. How exciting is that? .

See you in two weeks!!!!

There are other movie sets you can hike to also.

Re: Meet and Greet at Valley of Fire, October 7-9,2011

Okay! I was going to wait a few days for this, but here's another one. The movie The Professionals was filmed entirely in the Valley of Fire and Death Valley.

The set where the following scene was filmed is still in the Valley of Fire. I have a geocache at this location named "The Professionals 2.0". If you are a geocacher, notice the words on the wall behind the actors. It is a bonus question when you find the geocache.

I'm bringing the DVD with me to the Valley of Fire Meet and Greet, just in case someone wants to watch it.
