Morro Bay Boondocking?

It's looking like I'm going to have to postpone our Thanksgiving Baja trip to Gonzaga Bay. Covid and sick mom are forcing me to keep close to home.
I figure a nice alternative would be kayaking/SUPing around Morro Bay and exploring the sand spit.
Does anyone have any boondocking suggestions in that neck of the woods? Campgrounds are full as far as I can see but I'm still going to shoot for a cancellation at the State Park Campground on the bay. I'd like something to keep in my back pocket if that route doesn't pan out.

I'm a fan of keeping nice off-the-beaten-path spots on the down-low so be assured a P.M. will be kept just between you and me...
