Mountain Bike Meetup CO/UT?

I know there are several mountain bikers with SMBs (or SMBers with mtn bikes, depending on how you look at it) so what would be the level of interest in having a meetup this spring in either Fruita or Moab before the temps start rising? I was just in Moab for a couple days and the temps were perfect, trails were buff, and EVERYTHING was empty of Jeeps! Great road riding, too! I'm not much of a rock crawler but might be persuaded to challenge Golden Boy with some expert guidance.

Weekend of March 26th (Ibis Cycles bike demo at Uranium Bicycles) might fall in the sweet spot. April 16th (Jeep rally) and April 23rd (Easter) are not ideal I assume.

Any interest from the biking contingent and/or folks from the surrounding states?

Re: Mountain Bike Meetup CO/UT?

I'd love to, but that timing wouldn't work for me. Possibly in May?

Ordered my Foes XCT frame last week and components yesterday. Looking forward to my (mostly) new ride!

If we can settle on something between Moab / Fruita & N. California would be great. Maybe south west Utah (Gooseberry Mesa area), Eastern Sierra (Mammoth area), or ????

Gooseberry/St George might be a good option. I was just rained out of the Mesa last week so I've never had the chance to ride there.

Temps in May?

Re: Mountain Bike Meetup CO/UT?

I would definitely be interested especially since I have been in NY all winter riding in frozen temps.

Weekend of March 26 might be tight since I'm driving from NY to CO the weekend before. But I could make that work...

Did a May trip to Canyonlands / Moab / Gooseberry Mesa / Mammoth a couple years ago and the temperature was perfect.

I would really like something like this but with two young kids and their schooling etc it is probably going to be impossible for me. Once the dates are firmed up things may change.

Re: Mountain Bike Meetup CO/UT?

Can't make anything in March/April due to work and family stuff.

But would be interested in an outing around the October timeframe.

Thankfully, there is a lot of excellent MTB riding in SoCal and the eastern sierras to keep me happy. But any excuse to get to Utah is worth taking.

Re: Mountain Bike Meetup CO/UT?

I might be able to swing March 26th. I get off shift at 0800 and can usually make Moab in an hour and a half.

BTW, Nice Yeti!!

Not mine! Yeti and Kona were having demo days out in Moab last weekend and I got the chance to ride a ASR-5 Carbon, Big Top hardtail 29er, and the 575 which rocked it hard on Amasa!

Would anyone else be able to swing the weekend of the 26th or is that too soon?
