Need spot to overnight between SF and Carmel

Looking for a place to stay (hopefully coastal but I also like to forest around Santa Cruz) next week on my way home from a quick biz trip in SF. I need it to be between San Fran and Carmel as I have a stop there on the way back to So Cal. If you have any suggestions, please let me know.

Also, if you have any places to stealth camp around SFO airport, that would be great, too! I've had my head on too many hotel pillows in my life!

Thanks-
Steve

Quite a few State Park campgrounds around Monteray Bay, but they are usually busy. I think Moss Landing has a campground and Elkhorn slough right behind it is supposed to have outstanding paddling.

Mt. Madonna County Park has plenty of midweek space. It is near the top of Hecker Pass (Hwy 152) between Gilroy and Watsonville. Nice little place.

Veterans Memorial Park in Monterey has served our needs on occasion. Nice little park. Near Town but campfires and posible showers. Not too far from the Aquarium.
