It's not a very big spot, could maybe host 4 or 5 vans, and there are a few other little spots around the lake to the west. I camped there years ago in my jeep and hiked to a very cool spot on the east side of the lake where a huge fire pit had been made of a naturally occurring hole in a granite clearing.
There's a semi 4x4 trail, nothing to worry about except one tight squeeze around a corner if you're afraid of manzanita pinstriping. Just have someone spot for you.
It is first come first serve, so I'm leaving at noon on friday and should be there before 3 or so. I figure even if it's filled up there's lots of places to go in the area and I'll just figure it out. If I have cell reception I'll be able to get online and post a follow message to this thread as to availability.
There's a lower lake which is much easier to get to and has more spots, but this is what having an SMB is all about. I'll be there this weekend. Anyone else interested?
