Orange SMB in OC Carshow (Pics)

Went to the OC Car Show just to see SMB. Got to chat with Greg a bit and drooled on this ORANGE 4x4 SMB. Enjoy the pics!

Cheers, Ray

That is a nice looking rig. Interesting to see the Toyo's instead of the BFGs.

Did you learn anything about the red sprinter van? Some time ago, SMB announced that a 4x4 option was available for the sprinter vans and I'm wondering if the show van has that setup.

I'm digging the dark gray paneling. That looks like a different model of porta potti too (than I have anyway).

That orange paint job is kickin.

R-
The Sprinter was located in the Dodge section of the car show. Unfortunately it was not open and no one from Dodge knew anything about SMB's. But yes, it looked like the 4x4 model. It has the SportsMobile 4x4 decal on the side.

Jage-
You've got to see it in person. The interior was awesome and the orange color complimented everything nicely. The price tag was around the neighborhood of $105,000

My van started it's life as a show van for SMB too. Still that orange and gray is much more eye catching than mine ever was. It's got kind of a 70s appeal with that black stripe too.

re: that porta potti,
it appears to be the newer model, with the piston pump versus the bellow pump,
i gave it a dry test run at a local shop, the piston pumped air appears to be stronger than that of the bellow,
if you have the bellow, you can swap it out for a piston pump

That's the same color I have in mine. I asked for it after seeing it in a one-off custom van when I was considering the SMB, and for me it was a deal breaker if they wouldn't use the dark grey. I love the way it looks. in my opinion, it makes the van look less utilitarian, and more limo.

Talking to Alan last week it sounds like they're going to add it as a regular material. There was some concern that the laminate surface would be less durable than the white, but I can't tell a difference.

I've had my eye on that orange one every now and then when I would visit, glad to see they got it finished in time. When I picked up my van the orange van was just delivered from the ford dealership. I asked Alan how they got an orange one and he replied something about a special deal they had with Ford. Fomoco, or their dealer he didn't elaborate, but it was factory paint.

Can you say CalTrans?

If nothing else, it's done in time for Halloween!
