Re: Overland Expo 2009

I am glad to see that some more of us are going to be there. I heard that Sportsmobile has the paddock area which is front and center at the main building. It also looks like the exhibitor list is growing too.

Blackeye, when and what road will you be on. It might be fun to make a big SMB showing. At least a small forum showing.

Re: Overland Expo 2009

I talked to the director last week to see about my coming as a wannabe. FYI: She is under the impression that SMB has put together a site with SMB owners actually camped in/around the SMB exhibiter's area, sorta like a commune of believers, I guess. I donno which SMB's supporting Expo, probably West. If you contact them, maybe the wheels are already greased for a SMB mini-rally of sorts.

I'm looking fwd to meeting all of you who'll proudly show me your dream on wheels. I have lots of questions.

Our current plan is to roll out to the area on the Tuesday prior to the expo and check out some of the roads / trails south of Prescott / north of Phoenix. I was out there for the Overland Training course (http://www.OverlandTraining.com) and it is a great area to explore. Chances are that we will camp in the wilderness until check in time.

Re: Overland Expo 2009

There's a thread on the portal about a group of people setting up a primitive camp location. Contact REX over there. I don't have the coords yet, but more than likely we'll be setting up there and driving into the Expo during the daytime. We might visit family too in Prescott. As far as departure goes, we aren't leaving till half day on Friday because we have a business to run dang it.

See you all there.

Re: Overland Expo 2009

I know that some of us are amateur radio operators (Hams) and it would be great if we could decide on a frequency to use for communication while traveling and camping in the area. I know that the Mingus Mountain repeater is pretty busy with local Ham traffic. I am new at this so I will leave it up to you Ham experts.

Any ideas?

Re: Overland Expo 2009

Looks like I can make it out on Friday but I have to get back on the road Sunday Morning. Is the majority of the group camping at the SMB area? I look forward to meeting some of the group.

Till then, have fun.
