Planning an adventure/exploration in late October

This is not for the super organized-scheduled type, or for the faint of heart!

Without trying to damage my van, I will pick the roads less traveled. The more low range, the better. I'm looking for a very scenic, yet challenging, trip.

In a nutshell, I will work my way (on dirt as much as possible) from St. George to the north rim of the Grand Canyon, then up along the shore of Lake Powell ( 2 nights). Probably cross Powell at Hall's Crossing and start making my way to the nearest paved road towards SoCal.

This will be a 4 or 5 day trip. I have not mapped out the trip yet, as I'm just learning how to use Google Earth. I think 3 capable rigs should be the limit, and I'm pretty sure (hoping) Ramsey can go.

I'll be towing my little military trailer with fuel, water, spares, and tools.

Who's got suggestions?

Just a word of caution... if you plan to drive I-15 north out of Vegas, make sure it is opened again. It was closed last week (I haven't checked lately since I'm not going there). Not many alternatives for roads in those parts.

Done the Burr trail, Notem road and cathedral road, all very scenic but not particularly challenging. Almost pissed on a rattle snake on Notem! Some switchbacks might be difficult with a trailer...

Here's another, we did the entire trail from hite marina driving north to Hans flat on to green river, over 100 miles and you could spend days just exploring this area. This is where Aron Ralston was hiking and had to cut off his own arm with a Swiss Army knife after getting pinned by a rock.

It's open now... drove it on Monday (single lane each direction).

Thank you, that's the info I've been realizing after some searching. It looks like it has some spots that could potentially require 4wd, but most likely not. Maybe I'll get lucky and hit washouts. Lol.
