Quick Trip to the Tetons

You are probably tired of my Teton trip reports. It seems like it's the only place I travel, but it's so close I can head up on any weekend for a night or two.

This was just one night. I headed up on Saturday morning to cold temperatures, snow on the ground and clear skies. The weather was beautiful both days. A little overcast come evening but it cleared off fairly early on Sunday.

I stayed at Shadow mountain on Saturday night. Only one other camper was in the area. Two hunters sleeping in the back of their canopy/pickup. They came over to check out the SMB. I think they were a little jealous of my standing room, heat and overall comfort. Temperature said 3 degrees on Sunday morning when I left camp at 7:00. It was just barely getting light out. Spent both days wandering over most of the roads that were open and finished a book I was reading while hanging out at the Oxbow.

Me, the SMB and Mount Moran.

Some of the wildlife I spent some time with.

Sunday afternoon looking out over Jackson Lake. The Grand is barely visible on the left. Mount Moran is the main peak in the center. This is 8 photos assembled into the panoramic.

Quick trip but lots of wildlife were out and about. On Sunday morning, near Antelope Flats, I could count 12 moose feeding in the sagebrush in one area.
The sleeping fox raised it's head twice while I was there. Once when I got out of the SMB and once as I approached in the crunching snow. Both times he took a quick look and then tucked his head back down against his body. I spent at least 15 minutes taking pictures and he could care less that I was near by.

There was maybe a foot of snow at the most in the lower part of the Park and a little more up around the Oxbow and Colter Bay.

Thanks for looking,

Mike

I'm not tired of them. I love that place but live too far away to get there much. Great pics!

Good to hear from you Claude!
Hope your stay at home is going well. When do you plan on being back to Salk Lake to pick up your SMB and continue your travels?

Mike

Hi Mike,
Thanks for your kind words. I don't know when I'm gonna come back to the US. Anyway, I'll let you know when I'll travel to VivaLaVida again... ;-)
