Raptors ... no match for our vans.

Quote:
Once 'stoner was over, the second van barely slowed down and he made it up. He used all 9000+ lbs of his monster, stuck it in 4lo, lock out the front and rear and just let that big ole diesel idle as it carried him up and over. It was impressive to see, for sure.
Nice Death Valley trip report over on Expedition Portal with three Raptors. Apparently the couple SMB's they came across made a particular dry waterfall look easy. Not so much for the Raptors.

Do the vans belong to anyone here?

Was he in 4wd? The rears keep spinning and the front - nothing.

Sometimes, momentum is your friend.

It's not hard to make an easy obstacle look easy...

Re: Raptors ... no match for our vans.

Man, I'd never think those trucks would have that problem. Maybe too light. I did that pass with CellularSteve and CalClimber and it was very similar to that but never had any problems. None of us had problems. I understand trails can change, but that looked easy.

Dave, I forgot how awesome of a write up you did for your trip. I've never been and now I'm more stoked than ever to repeat your write up trip.

Thanks for sharing and doing the work of documenting.

Re: Raptors ... no match for our vans.

Thanks Brad but actually CellularSteve did the writeup on this site...I just did the same writeup on my site which I linked to.

From my site I've got a couple others:
2006-7
2007-8
And these on this site:
viewtopic.php?f=11&t=2806
viewtopic.php?f=11&t=2807
viewtopic.php?f=11&t=2808
viewtopic.php?f=11&t=2809

Plus there was a forum meet that I missed.

Death Valley is a great place. I'm ready to go back.

Daveb and CellularSteve:

If you guys plan on doing another Death Valley trip this winter, please let me know. I'd love to come along if you don't mind.

I may be willing to rally from Portland also. Its killing me that I've never been.
