There must be a good story here. Please continue.
When Henry and Pam were out hiking early Saturday, they ran into a Park Ranger. The Ranger proceeded to let them know how we shouldn't be camping where we were at because it wasn't within the park boundaries, how it was private land, and that we shouldn't be there without written permission from the landowners (supposedly the Boys and Girls Club of Los Angeles). Believe me, there were no Private Property or No Trespassing signs anywhere to be found. I guess the Ranger mentioned a number of times how we shouldn't be there, and then mentioned it again. In what perhaps was a moment of compassion however, the Ranger did mention that if someone really hurt themself, they'd be better off getting themselves within the Park boundaries before calling for help. Without marked boundaries though, that might prove to be a bit challenging.

Not sure if it was the same Ranger or not, but a Ranger was also citing a few individuals (not our group) for having their dogs off leash, miles from anyone else. I am a big proponent of leash laws, but when there's not another soul in sight I think a little leniency is called for. You don't want dogs running off chasing any wildlife, so issue the owners a warning and have them get their dogs on a leash.

Any idea who's plane that was? Im an RC geek as well. Hope to catch you guys next time.

Re: So Cal SMB winter meet up 2012

Sorry I missed; thanks for the pix.

Funny, that same ranger must be up by Borrego Sprgs on 22; friends just phoned me and mentioned the ranger up there was admonishing folks about being on private property in the Clark Lake area above Laguna Salada. It's been a very popular boony camping site for years. The park is making it off limits next year, and seem to feel it necessary to patrol the private property there as well.

And they were giving people grief about dogs. I can kinda understand that (I leave the pooch at home) but the feds and other land managers don't seem to be as restrictive.

And btw, what was that picture with the weird lights?
