Just posted a video on YouTube of our 2018 tour of the area around the Alvord Desert and Steens Mountains in SE Oregon.

Really enjoyed the video, Larrie. Thanks for taking me through the Alvord, since we couldn’t fit that in on our own Steens trip.

Loved the heroic music on the cool drone shot at 5:45! You guys looked like you were on the scene of a Star Wars set, saving the universe. Fun!

We did the trip the first weekend, October 5-8, 2018. Yes I know I am a bit late with the video. It is hard to get the timing right on the top of the Steens. They make their own weather. Our first trip was the first weekend in September 2016 and we were in a snow storm at the top. A friend got showed on in August.

Wow, you're brave driving on the lake bed when it's wet and muddy. I wouldn't have attempted it - at least if I were alone. In the Black Rock Desert (NV), you'd sink right down into the muck. Guess I've been stuck in the mud too many times, and am afraid of it.

The six of us were debating whether to go on to the lake bed or not. Then along came a class C motor home pulling a trailer that was just coming off the lake after a few days of wind sailing. We figured that we would be fine after seeing that.

The interesting thing was that when we came back across the next day all the standing water was gone and the lake bed was no longer muddy.
