was astounded and a bit dismayed by the growth and crowds in Moab.
It took me an hour to get from one side of Moab to the other when I passed through last month. Insane amount of people (and construction). Traveling through Utah and Colorado seemed like summer level of crowds. The Sprinter camper van market is certainly doing well! I love Utah, but tend to stay away from Moab just because of the crowds.

On the left side of the highway, coming from Cortez, about a mile or less before Mesa Verde is a gravel road. This is also about 4 miles past the Phil's World trailhead. Less than a mile in, there's a fork to the right. Follow that fork to a BLM dispersed camping area. There are numbered sites but it is undeveloped with no facilities.

Thanks. I’ll have to check it out. Next time you’re in the area, check out Boggy Draw- on a bench up above Dolores. Not as epic as Phil’s, but good riding and lots of great camping.

Great trip, thanks for sharing. We visited many of those sites two years ago. Here's a link to our blog: https://aginghippiesrockies.blogspot.com

Following, looking forward to visiting the southwest. Especially Arizona/Utah borders.
