Southwest trip

Here's a link to a slideshow from my Southwest trip last month. Started in Moab with some friends, then continued solo, visiting Cortez, Fruita, Vernal and Flaming Gorge.

I'm in agreement with the rest, looks like a great trip and good job on the video. Makes me want to un-mothball the van and hit the road.

It sure was hopping down there! I last visited Moab 9 years ago and had camped in the same spot north of town on Willow Springs Road. On that occasion there were only a couple other rigs scattered about. When I arrived this time, there were literally hundreds of campers there and everywhere. I was able to grab a small patch of dirt, but then moved to a nicer spot nearby a few days later. Meanwhile my friend who had not been to Moab since 1991 and was staying in town with his wife was astounded and a bit dismayed by the growth and crowds in Moab.

Each subsequent destination was a little less crowded and it was quiet and peaceful in Vernal, which is admittedly pretty far off the beaten track. It was all great though and I was happy to miss the cold snap that enveloped the region just after I left.
