Re: Summer trip planning, CO/AZ/UT/WY

+1 on the Grand Canyon North Rim. Totally different vibe than the south rim. We liked it much better.

We may be heading west this summer, too, taking a month between mid-June and mid-July. I'm waiting to see if I have to go to Germany for work in June. If so, then I'll take the family with me over there. If not, we're westward bound in the SMB!

I'm stuck at work until mid-July, and my brother and nephew are flying out to CO in August.. So unfortunately, you'll need to change your dates.

Yup, we'll be in England in July.
Robb and the rest-be sure to post up your travel dates for CO, see if we can put something together, there's some great drives, both on/off road. Ok, done hijacking Eric's thread.......for now

Re: Summer trip planning, CO/AZ/UT/WY

Weather Nation local forecast mentioned it has rained everyday this month except for one so we are over monthly average already 2.63" vs. 2.12" average. Everything is green vs. being dry & fire danger like last few years.

Re: Summer trip planning, CO/AZ/UT/WY

86Scotty - We are headed west this summer as well. But, our travel plans are for July rather than June. It is too bad we won't be out that way at the same time. We plan to visit CO/UT/AZ with stops in Moab and the North Rim.

REF - We will be in the Boulder area during the second week of July.

Durango to Monument Valley. You must stop at Mesa Verde National Park. Amazing !

If you can't get into the Wave, a good alternative is White Pocket, which is not far away as the crow flies, but the going to get there can be slow and sandy. No permits required...yet.
