Re: Summer trip planning, CO/AZ/UT/WY
You can check bushducks.com for current trail conditions. San Juan county staff plow Ophir, Engineer, and Cinnamon passes each year to get them open as soon as they can. They want that tourist revenue in Silverton to start flowing as fast as they can. They had some open earlier and then we got a mean snow cycle in May and they all closed up again. That cycle has ended but we are still getting some rain/snow mix in the San Juan mountains. By the time you get here, I would suspect that all the passes should be open including Imogene. Can't say if Ouray county plows their side or not and sam for San Miguel county on the Telluride side.

G'day Rusty,
Would like to swing by and join you for a few days, once I'm confident about the reliability of my 6.0 engine, ok? You got spare shovels, in case we need to bury it?
Will keep you posted.
Doug

Mornin' Doug, if we can meet up that sounds good! I think your new van will be fine, and we'd love to meet you and see it. I'll be updating this post as we roll, and I check PMs and email as I have signal when I'm traveling.

Re: Summer trip planning, CO/AZ/UT/WY
TRIP HAS BEEN POSTPONED due to a death in the family. We're hoping to leave from the funeral in a few days, since it's a few hours from here in the direction we were going anyway. Thanks to all who expressed interest in meeting up. It could still happen but I'm not sure how much this will change our plans.

Oh no, sorry to hear! Condolences to you and your family. Still hoping we run across each other somewhere out west...

Re: Summer trip planning, CO/AZ/UT/WY
Good news. We are back on the road and only about 4 days behind our original plans. I had the misfortune of burying my dad this weekend, but he has been fighting cancer for a long time and all of us are happy he is no longer suffering. Though it might make the trip bittersweet, we are glad to be on the road exploring. He instilled in me a love for the big mountains of the west. Though this is our anniversary trip, it is a great way to honor him. We'll be hitting CO midday tomorrow (6/23) and still headed along 50 to the Gunnison area first. To any of you who weighed in earlier about meeting up, let us know your location over the next couple of days.
Brian...where are you? I hope you're rolling again.

Oh man... sorry to hear about your dad. I fear that call greatly.
I am heading out tomorrow late morning... I plan on poking around the Lost Creek area near Tarryall Reservoir, then working west over Tin Cup Pass toward Gunnison and eventually Lake City and Engineer Pass sometime in the next several days.

Grumpy, I'm on my phone so not easy to look stuff up. Remind me of what your van looks like again. We'll look for you.
