The Land of Mordor Expedition - non Sportsmobile

In June a group of us took a trip to the Land of Mordor. I was in my 4Runner not my van. Rather than clutter the forum with not Sportsmobile photos I posted the trip report on my blog. Some of you may find it interesting.

cool report. really wanted to attend this trip, but june is a no go for us every year due to races. doubt ill be able to attend next year either I asked George to make a map for me so the wife and I can still go check it out later in the year. hes good people. he has shown me some neat places around our area I would have never guessed were there. I see he has a few reports on expo as well. need to take some time to check them out.

malad river was ripping in your pix. did you guys go check out malad gorge while you were in the area?

Thanks for sharing. A buddy went through the Craters of the Moon several years back and I've always wanted to check out the area after seeing his pictures of it.

Nice report, Larrie. Great maps on that NPS site, too.

Thanks!

Glad you liked the report. It is a very neat area with unusual landscape.

Shenrie, we did not get the gorge. It was nice to meet George and his two daughters.

next time your in the area make it a point to stop at the malad gorge. its right off I-84 and really easy to get to from highway. really good place to make a pit stop and stretch out a bit.

theres a foot bridge that runs right next to highway bridge that's a good 75' high and it puts you dead center on the water fall.

opposite direction from footbridge.

an aerial view of the little park.

and thanks again for the pm!!

We went over that bridge several years ago on our way to the Jackson, WY meet and greet. Thought it was the Snake River. Better work in my geography some more. The gorge is impressive for such a small river.
