Agree with your comments. Nice photos as well.

It was great meeting and getting to know everyone.

Great ideas on what might be a more comfortable trip for vans. Shorter days. Longer camps. Side trips. Yes. As much as possible a clear description of each day's travel would be good. I noticed on the Roaming Rally even if you had a working GPS and maps downloaded with waypoints and tracks attached everyone seemed to have a different interpretation at times. When two vehicles arrived at a turn one would say my GPS says go right and the other would say "no" go straight etc....we had to turn around several times. Maybe this is part of the "adventure".
In general I like your idea and will interested in seeing your plan develop.

Time for an update I guess. Tomorrow I depart for the "Rod run to the end of the world" in Illwaco Wa on the 8th, then head to the Oregon coast for some beach camping prior to being in Placerville Ca on the 12th for an Outlaws Sprint car race, on to Reno for the Reno Air races on the 13th and 14th, after which its the Adventure van Expo at Homewood lake Tahoe on the 15th, a few days camping around Tahoe, then off to Anacortes Wa for the Oyster run bike rally on the 23rd. Is anyone going to any of these events or care to join me along the way?

Thanks, I'm sure I'll need one by then. I'll probably be the only one with Alaska plates, so easy to find.

Fitz, sorry I missed you, but since we never met in person, it's hard to pick out folks in a crowd. I did meet Bellpilot though, he's built a great rig. Next time we will need a better plan to meet up.

Agree that we needed a better plan. I didn’t expect that many people, but saw several others from the forum that I have met before. Laura and I bailed out mid afternoon and used the van vs. looking at other vans, we found our way up to Upper Blue Lake by the end of the day. Very nice.

So would ya say we did not miss much if we sat this one out? Wife and I wanted to go, but another even took precedence.

It was a smaller event compared to the big rallys, but it was a nice local event.

Now it's time to move to the next adventure. Anyone interested in a sprint boat race? 13ft boats with 900 or more HP, 7G's in the turns, 0 to 60mph in about 3 seconds and with full roll cages.

I'll be there if anyone wants to meet up and then head out to Hobuck beach for some camping.

Was just in Anacortes over the weekend also. Unfortunately I was there for a funeral, got out Sunday morning before oyster festival got big. That boat racing is intense!
