I normally just carry martini and wine glasses .

We were sitting around the campfire and the tequilla came out. Angel pulled out these tiny shot glasses she got, I think, in Canada. I think they were in milliliters but they were very small. Actually perfect for my age and shots of tequilla.

Re: The next Meet and Greet ?

I'm in for any of the above, except 9,000 foot mountain top in the winter. Anza Borrego would be great. Alabama Hills would be great. Death Valley would be fun. Mojave Preserve is interesting, but been there many times. Sadly Mitchell Caverns is closed. It's a fun cave with a guided tour in the Mojave Preserve. The Arizona desert is gorgeous if someone from there knows a good place to meet up. Lots of possibilities. All of them good. Someone just pick a date and place and we'll see who shows up.

Also, if anyone likes ghost towns, I will be taking a three to four-day trip in the late spring up into central Nevada to explore the Manhattan District. There are about 50 old mining town sites in the area that I've never explored. It would be fun to have several of us tooling around the area enjoying the sites. It's a photographer's paradise. Lots of old mining shacks, crumbling buildings and mine equipment. If anyone is interested, PM me and we can figure out some compatible dates in April.

Re: The next Meet and Greet ?

There is a lot to celebrate in April, http://familycrafts.about.com/library/s ... yslong.htm, including the start of baseball.

We are good to go the 2nd and 4th weekends as long as the creek don't rise.

Re: The next Meet and Greet ?

The newbee votes for anza borrego. I've camped at the bow willow campground a bunch of times and really dig it. Primitive with h2o and pit toilets I think. Lots of great washs and trails to explore close by too. There are two group spots as I recall that I think could accommodate 3 or 4 rigs each and then about a dozen closely nested spots on a small loop. I vote for late jan early feb.

Here's a link to google maps:
http://maps.google.com/maps?q=bow+willo ... d&t=h&z=18

That being said I also have a amazing secret spot pictured below about 30 miles south of big sur that is one of the most beautiful places i've ever camped in my life. Its very reminiscent of the hunter s photos of big sur and could accommodate 40 rigs or more boondocking. Excuse the iphone photos.

Re: The next Meet and Greet ?

There is another discussion stream organizing a Meet and Greet at Death Valley on March 30-31. Here is the link:

viewtopic.php?f=11&t=8282&hilit=death+valley

I will be attending that one. But the Big Sur spot sounds wonderful. If desertdrifter wants to organize a meet and greet there sometime, I'd certainly try to make it to that one too. The place looks gorgeous. What are the coordinates/directions?

Re: The next Meet and Greet ?

I'm opting in for the secret spot in Big Sur. Then the SE Oregon mountain top in the summer. I can get to both in a days drive from the SF Bay Area.

Re: The next Meet and Greet ?

I don't see desertdrifter offering up his secret spot. If he did, it wouldn't be secret any more....
