Re: Tips for the inaugural trip?

Hey Baja - I *might* be able to drive it out for you if you are interested in pursuing that angle (you pay for costs and return ticket). I live in Philadelphia. Depends how soon you need it transported. PM me.

Re: Tips for the inaugural trip?

Thank you for the offers. Let me think on them. The flight is around $300 and it will take $500 in fuel and then there are $200 in expenses...

and then, there is the "cost" of putting 3000 miles on it and the risks of mechanical problems, accidents...

Shipping is ~$1,700 so the marginal cost is only $700. How much is 3000 miles worth?

SMB is in excellent shape with 89K mi. We are going to convert it to 4X4 TTB and take it down to Baja with us with a couple of others I'm doing - that is another story!

If either of you guys are interested in doing a fly and drive for me, let me know. I had to cancel my trip due to some medical issues with my dog. Sigh...

Re: Tips for the inaugural trip?

SMB east arranged shipping for me. The outfit they used was reasonable, reliable, and very professional. I'm sure Nancy could give you their contact info. However much you are in a rush, it's worth a few hours at delivery to go through all the systems. It doesn't have to be an al, day affair to be thorough and give you peace of mind to travel a long distance the first time out. ESP worth it if you plan to use the RV system on your trip back (if you end up driving)
