Re: Toys for Tots Gorman Dec 7-8

Been looking forward to this for months. That said 17 hours of travel time yesterday from my hotel in Maryland to get home, plus the weather, plus I lost my money clip (with travel receipts) earlier today is all telling me to stay home. I do have half a dozen presents I will drop off at a local T4T's though.

Sorry I'll miss everyone who does attend though..

Herb

FWIW though, someone did turn in my money clip, complete with cash and receipts, to the gas station where I dropped it. Unfortunately, they didn't leave their contact info or I would have given them a reward. The clip itself and the receipts meant more to me than the money.

Would buy you a pack of good beer if someone can pick up a Pit To Go fire pit for me. Right off the 5fwy in Valencia. Already paid for. Just pick up.

Makes me wish all the more that I could have made it up there Friday night.

Re: Toys for Tots Gorman Dec 7-8

Was there today. Between 9:30 and 10 I was heading up the 5 and CHP were directing all traffic to turnaround at Vista del Lago, just one exit before Smokey Mtn Road. I got to the ramp after about an hour of creeping and was just about to head home when I noticed two well setup jeeps and a nice red SMB off to the left just sitting in the barren lanes. So, I crossed the flare line and joined them. The four of us sat there, chatting with the chp officer about conditions further up, and suddenly he just let the four of us proceed up the 5. So it was just us for the next few miles on an open and perfectly clear interstate! That was fun. Got off and headed into Hungry Valley and there was a huge crowd of jeeps, SMB's, rovers, and all kinds of nice rigs at the TFT's event. It was freezing cold with a strong snowy wind, but everyone hung out outside and a few in their vehicles. Alan Feld, owner of Sportsmobile, was there with his latest creation and a batch of hot cider and pizza. It was a fun time.

Assorted pics, (I hope I get the names correct, excuse me for leaving any out) including mine, Alan's, Steve's, Dave & Pam, Brent, KTMrider, Ramsey and pics of Alan's new creation (the white unimog style thing), and other pics of interesting things done to other rigs.

Is anyone going to be there tomorrow? Might come by in the early afternoon if anyone is still around.

While I was waiting I noticed nearly no one coming up from behind indicating that there was another roadblock down lower that was put in place after I passed that spot. Don't know when they let 'em go, I was already at my destination by then. I was just lucky.
