As corny as it is, California Gold did a show on that area and even went in the tunnel http://www.burroschmidttunnel.org/ with cameras. That area might make a nice mini ralley some time. Thanks for the report.

As usual, Nice photos and narrative. It's nice to see these "adventure" posts trickling in from time to time - especially in the winter. But hey, what do we Californians know about winter?

No kidding, I always check the trip report section first, most bang for the buck with photos and all. I was starting to wonder if anyone was actually taking any trips this winter!

Re: Trip Report: Bonanza Trail - Red Rock Area

Another great trip report. That said, I thought Red Rock was outside Las Vegas and it was only with a google when I realized how many Red Rock's there are

I also like this section, it is my favorite to read; either to remind me of a great trip I have taken or (more often) to give me ideas for a future one.

Thanks.

Re: Trip Report: Bonanza Trail - Red Rock Area

You can find numerous trailheads in this area all accessible by our larger SportsMobile's . Most of these were established thru the search for precious minerals and the construction of the of
Los Angeles Aqueduct as well as the movement west . Many of these trails will take you into Alpine portions of the Sierra Nevada and to camping area's that you would have never imagined this close to the Los Angeles Basin . I raced and explored this area in the sixty's and seventy's and found area's that were incredible and many can even be set up as day or weekend trips . Unfortunately much of this area will one day be closed to Off Road Vehicles unless people and groups like ourselves become PRO ACTIVE . And yes Adventureduo they did sell fuel at your cabin . Thank you for the memories .
