Re: TWOLOST: Looking for UT trip advice

Our trip is starting to come together. Below is a random list of some of the places we have already committed to (permits already in-hand for places that allowed for it):
  • Arches National Park[/*:m:xce522ad]
  • Slickrock Trail (mtn bike)[/*:m:xce522ad]
  • Porcupine Trail (mtn bike if time allows)[/*:m:xce522ad]
  • Long Canyon, Deadhorse Point State Park[/*:m:xce522ad]
  • White Rim Trail (three days)[/*:m:xce522ad]
  • Burr Trail[/*:m:xce522ad]
  • Flint Trail, Panorama Point Overlook (two days)[/*:m:xce522ad]
  • Lake Powell (undetermined location) [/*:m:xce522ad]
  • Natural Bridges National Monument[/*:m:xce522ad]
  • Elk Mountain Rd, Gooseberry Rd, Long Point Rd, Beef Basin Rd[/*:m:xce522ad]
  • Newspaper Rock[/*:m:xce522ad]
  • Comb Wash or Butler Wash, Snow Flats, Moki Dugway, VOTG, Goosenecks State Park[/*:m:xce522ad]
  • South Rim GC (one night)[/*:m:xce522ad]
  • Flagstaff, AZ (Expo)[/*:m:xce522ad]
  • NRGC (Bright Angel Point, Cape Royal, Point Imperial)[/*:m:xce522ad]
  • NRGC (Point Sublime, Fire Point, Swamp Point, etc… if accessible)[/*:m:xce522ad]
  • NRGC Toroweep[/*:m:xce522ad]
  • NRGC SB Point[/*:m:xce522ad]
  • NRGC Kanab Point[/*:m:xce522ad]
  • Page, Horseshoe Bend, Canyon X, Antelope Canyon (lower)[/*:m:xce522ad]
  • House Rock Rd, Vermilion Cliffs Condor Viewing Site, Cottonwood Rd[/*:m:xce522ad]
  • Kodachrome Basin State Park[/*:m:xce522ad]
  • Bryce Canyon National Park[/*:m:xce522ad]

On paper, I think that I have provided for an acceptable mix of boondocking, camping in campgrounds, and staying in hotels for this trip. My wife will undoubtedly let me know own way or another once she learns that she is still two days away from a hot shower... :-) Weather seems to be one of the biggest factors and could block access or cancel any number of places we intend to visit. We should be flexible enough to roll with whatever mother nature does (as nothing on our list is really mandatory). I am also learning the areas near where we are traveling just in case we need a plan-b.

I have also decided to leave the motorcycle at home in favor of bringing a second spare tire (similar to the setup we utilized in Alaska). Seems like I kept running into stories about people getting multiple flats while traveling along the NRGC and the frequency of these type of incidents has now altered our configuration.

Thanks to everyone for their suggestions. The information provided here and in this forum has really been a huge help in focusing what it is that we want to go out and see. Hopefully we can return to this community a trip report that describes our experience and also provides enough detail to by referenced by others.

Cheers,
TWOLOST +1

What? No Zion National Park when you are so close? If you haven't been there you need to add that to your list.
