Re: TWOLOST: Two weeks in WA, ID, BC, AB... and back

Crossing the border can be easy; or it can be a hassle.

Last time into Canada it took us 2 hours to clear customs. Full inspection (we weren't the only one) and I think they took lunch while we cooled our heels. At a fairly small crossing.

Twice coming into the US we have had problems. Once on a motorcycle we had to open our saddlebags in the rain! At a very busy crossing from Detroit.

Once in the SMB they wanted to take a good look. I think they had never seen an SMB

Most of the time it is clear sailing. Just be prepared

Mike

Stunning photos and a very happy looking kid! Will she ever know the "pleasure" of tent camping?

Very nice photos twolost. I can't wait to take my nearly 2 year old son on a trip like that.
Thanks for posting.

As usual I love your photos. However, I can't believe your daughter is already two years old. I've been on these forums for way too long

Re: TWOLOST: Two weeks in WA, ID, BC, AB... and back

Thanks again for the comments.

Phil, oh yea... my daughter will know what it is like to occasionally live out of a tent. Me (dad) still goes on a few dual sport vacations every year where tent camping is the norm. Tent camping with a motorcycle helps me with the context of what is 'really' necessary to pack. By contrast, the amount of space available in the van is ENORMOUS.

sdwindansea... I cant believe it either. It has probably been the two hardest years of my life up to this point. Now that my daughter and I can communicate with more than just grunts and high squeaky voices... it is crazy fun to go and experience things with her and see how she reacts. For example, she was practicing bull elk calls on the way home from this last trip. I will never hear anything the same again (...actually, it is lucky I can hear anything at all).

Cheers,

ditto on sdwindansea sentiment. I havent been spending near as much time on the forum as in the past and yet remember the announcement that twolost was now to be three. Hard to believe its been 2yrs. Love the photography as always and great she's hitting the road with you now. btw, how many miles on the van now, ready to sell and upgrade yet?

Thanks BC.

Just under 30,000 miles on our van now... and thankfully no foreseeable SMB sale on the horizon.

I too have had very little time to spend on this forum (or any forum for that matter). Very glad to see that this one has been flurishing.

Here is my own quick little two year trip down memory lane.

Our SMB forum announcement April, 2009

Day, 1 (four months after the announcement above)

First Christmas

First Snow

First wheels

First SMB overnight camping trip

First solo ride

Three weeks ago...

It is all happening... TOOFAST!

Looking forward to many more two and four wheeled adventures in the future!!

Cheers,

Man I've got to get myself another Van! Love the pics! Like said before: "great motivation" and yes pics like this and day dreaming of getting out there makes coffee in my office bearable.

Cheers,

Chris
