US 50 Closure Gunnison to Montrose

The highway is closed between mm 122 and 127, the “Little Blue Canyon” section. They open it 1 hr in the AM, Mid-day, and late afternoon. Last I checked they were allowing only 150 vehicles thru per opening. If you’re 151, TFB for you. It’s open on weekends.

This project is supposed to last 2 full construction seasons.

We got very lucking there the other day. Arrived at stoppage going east bound around 12:15. They started letting cars through at 12:30 and we were second to the last one before they closed off again.

I drove through the other day since I70 was closed AGAIN due to mudslides in Glenwood canyon.

Considering I drive through there once a week I'm getting pretty tired of watching for rainstorms that could cause another mudslide. Racking up the miles driving the detours. Ugh

We got through a few weeks ago with only about a 30 minute wait. I hate to hear that it will take so long. If they say two years it will likely be four.

Not likely. This isn't the east coast. We have good contractors here with incentives to do the work on time. That rock removal work is very specialized and closely monitored.

We drove through an active mud / water flow across I70 (west bound) further east of Glenwood Canyon yesterday. Wild weather!

Yeah my friends in Eagle said it was nuts.

We need rain badly but with dry burnt soil it doesn't soak in
