Re: Valley of Fire Meet and Greet Trip Report

For me, the SMBs were the excuse to get together and talking to everyone was the highlight!

Typical scene. People talking and Mac working to make it all a success!

I came from the SF Bay area, south - stopping at SMBW on the way - and over the Tehachapis. I wanted to return through Tioga Pass and Yosemite. The Wednesday snow and rain lead me to fear the pass was closed for the season.

As I approached the Sierras from the east this is the view. Plenty of snow above 7000'. Fortunately, Tioga Pass had been plowed.

Re: Valley of Fire Meet and Greet Trip Report

I have just returned from weeks out in the southwest, with some great times.

With a most excellent time at the VoF meet.
First I must thank Mac for organizing a fine event.
In the best setting you could imagine. Unreal.
Much more than just Sportsmobiles, it was about the people.
Each and everyone of you were some fine people. Each with a good story.
I could have spent much more time chatting. Sorry I did not get around to more...

My campground was out on the backside away from others, so I'll post it up.

Waking up to this

With my old school sportsmobile neighbors.
Thanks for the wine!

First day in I met Ron (Bettyford).
We did a 95 mile adv ride all along Lake Mead. Fun stuff. Thanks Ron. You rocked the KLR.

Ron floats his KLR where ever he can

Lakeside

Wheeling on Saturday on Bitter Springs trail. Very cool 28 mile trail.
It is awesome to see ten SMB's all in a row wheeling (well ok, two QuadVans thrown in for good measure ).
...The jeepers enjoyed it.

A great lunch spot!

Thanks to Daveb for leading on a great route, and your excellent general knowledge.
Fine job.

Thanks to Craig for helping me load my tank Triumph back into my van!

Good to see Andrew in his QuadVan, cool stuff. Good luck finishing your build.

Just a fine time I tell ya...
Thanks to all for making it super!

BTW, I am proud of my QuadVan and my build on it. But all the tricked out SMB's made me a believer.
My van is basic compared to most.
Fine equipment folks...

Re: Valley of Fire Meet and Greet Trip Report

Well, we didn't make it into the local paper again this week. I guess 28 Sportsmobiles in one place at the same time just isn't all that exciting to the local farm-folks of Overton. Logandale and Moapa. Hopefully our article will get in the paper before the annual 4x4 Hump and Bump in Overton on November 4-6th.

Re: Valley of Fire Meet and Greet Trip Report

Finally home after 20 days on the road. The Valley of Fire was the highlight of the trip! What a great bunch, tribe, group, gang . . . . And the tequila. And Angel's shot glasses. And Mike's lumber. And the American flag flying high. And all the dogs. Too much fun!

I deleted the photo album I posted. I should have asked permission first. Sorry!
