Where to stay, what to do at SMB West??

I'm headed to SMB West for a penthouse tuneup and a new rear bumper for my SMB - it will take 2-3 days of work, but I get the van back at night.
I'd like to know where to stay - a close campground, preferably.
And, any suggestions of how to occupy my time during the day while they have the van.
thanks
Mike S

Mike,

Bring lots and lots and lots of reading material or some type of project. SMB has a waiting room with comfy couches and free coffee . They have wifi BUT, the do not know the password Its an industrial area so nothing fun is near. The last time my wife and I went, we got a room at the Picadilly Inn and stayed there until our Rig was ready. Wifi was free, air conditioned room, TV, ordered Pizza, etc. SMB dropped us off and picked us up when our Rig was done.

Don't know too much about campgrounds. SMB staff can probably recommend something.

Are you coming form Alaska?

Ray

Mike,

Try this for campsites around Fresno

I agree with Ray that if you are there for days, I'd stay at a hotel. The waiting room is pretty boring and there anything around within walking distance outside a couple restaurants.

Thanks for the info - although I live in Kodiak, I bought at trailer in Apache Junction, AZ where I now store my SMB for winter adventures. I'm headed to Death Valley after SMB West, then meeting up with my wife and friends at Big Bend NP for more adventures.
