Re: Where to take a shower

In CA, some of the State Recreation Areas (SRA's) have showers but unless you can sneak in during the day, there is a day use fee. Some showers are coin operated; some free.

Re: Where to take a shower

In Jackson WY we like the community rec center, right in downtown Jackson. For no additional fee you can use the pool and/or hot tub. If I recall correctly the cost was about $6.

Re: Where to take a shower

When in Thermopolis WY, you can't beat the FREE state hot spring pool. A 20 minute soak is free and showers are included. We met those who just use the free shower.

Re: Where to take a shower

The sheriff in Jarbidge, NV volunteered the shower at his workshop. Totally unexpected, great pleasure but with a backstory that won't work for most folks. When I get our trip report done, I'll have details but suffice it to say we had a connection.

Some BLM sites have free or inexpensive showers. We took great showers at a BLM lake off I-70 in Kansas last year. It's next to Wilson State Park and a great set of MTB trails. Lots of small towns in the Great Plains have camping & shower facilities. Never tried them.
