White Rim Road and Lathrop Cyn Condition

I did some looking at past threads on White Rim Road. I especially like this trail report, but it is 6 years old... http://www.sportsmobileforum.com/for...il-4384-4.html

We were hoping to do it in the wintertime and that never panned out. Now we are heading out there in a few weeks and I am doing some reading on the trail and one of the guides mentions Lathrop Canyon Trail to get down to the river over near Airport. It mentions a ledge that could be difficult to navigate on the way back up. It says that there is a bypass, but that the bypass has a very low overhanging tree, so not recommended for tall vehicles, er, SMB's.

I was wondering about the current conditions. Has anyone been there lately? If so is the ledge he is speaking about a tough obstacle, or is it pretty doable. We could always just park and hike down if it looks tough, but I thought I would ask.

Thanks!!

Hi George,
I didn't have time to run the whole White Rim trail but did run Potash and up Schaffer Switchbacks last week. A few folks that did the White Rim on mountain bikes had said they made it but another jeep was going to attempt it. He stated there was a washout with water three feet deep earlier in the week but it was said to have subsided to a foot deep by then, which I think was last Monday.
I would for sure look for a more up to date report before you go but by then it will probably be fine.
Eric

Road closed due to flooding at Mineral Bottom. (June 7/8).

We only got to Whitecrack and had to return due to fuel and time constraints. Did not do Lathrop Canyon for the same reasons. The roads that we did were rough but easy going with both RB and EB.

Sorry I can't be of more help.

Thanks. We will be there in a few days. I'll update when I can.
