As Corey's drive along buddy, I appreciated the thought he put into researching the trip. The side stops and hikes were great breaks.
His descriptions are very accurate. We both have extended vans and only had to make a couple of reversals to make tighter turns. We both agreed that the photos, even videos, can't really capture some of the steeper climbs and descents. Some was challenging but nothing a little patience and a few quick looks in the sideview mirrors couldn't handle. Afterwards you can enjoy a bit of the joy that comes from meeting the challenge.
As for height issues, my van is about 8'-6" high and made it through, although there were a couple of places I was glad there was more trail on the left so I could avoid an outcropping on the right.
While most of the socializing was usually in the morning before we hit the trail, the "early to van" evenings allowed us to both test our vans in cold night conditions, something I had never really done. Maybe I'm just getting older but I was thankful I snagged a 12V electric blanket at a truck stop in Green River. Worked like a charm without a significant battery drain.
Thanks Corey for a most memorable trip.
PS
I'm wondering what happened to the two young guys in the Toyota Corolla that were headed in the morning we headed out.
