Yosemite February 2019

On Saturday the 9th we took an impromptu trip to Yosemite for the day, the highway patrol was checking for chains, I had some with me but they said I didn't need to put them on. The van did great in 4 high.

We ended up getting snowed in overnight with only highway 140 opening late Sunday.

I have been to Yosemite several times, but never in the winter. It was totally worth the 4-hour drive

WOW!

Nice trip report, looks like you got in a unique visit. That storm even dumped snow on the coast range and the Sierra's got hammered. The next round hits tomorrow into Thursday. Winter is about the only time I like to visit Yosemite valley anymore. Always beautiful and not packed with visitors.

Winter is my favorite time to visit Yosemite. I was there last February. Crowds are lighter but you gotta watch out for those driving there that are unprepared for winter. We see a lot of spinouts there every time we visit when there's snow.
