Reminds me of the time the passenger-side wiper froze to the windshield of my Volvo and then stripped. Fortunately on that car they made the wiper arm centers out of soft metal, with the idea that if they stripped you'd just reposition it, then tighten it down to cut new splines.

If the pivot still moves freely, it’s prob just a broken plastic wiper arm bushing. They get old and brittle, break and let the linkages fall off. Cheap and easy fix. Look something like this,Name:  IMG_2789.jpg

I actually keep those wiper bushings in stock as it is a common issue on the old Chryslers.

I feel dumb for not having thought about it let alone taking a few with me.
