35" tire adapter for Aluminess swing away

I've been searching through our vast archives, but haven't been able to find the post referring to an adapter plate Aluminess made to fit a 35" tire to one of their swing away tire carriers. Anyone remember?

Maybe I just dreamed it.

No you didn't dream it, they did make some kind of an adaptor that off set certain size tires...I just don't recall how large of a tire it was for. Maybe give them a call.

I'm thinking it depends also on what year the bumper was made. Seems they made a change after 2006 but I could be wrong.

Re: 35" tire adapter for Aluminess swing away

The adaptor may vary with both the size of the tire, and the offset of the rim. The tire needs to be firmly against the tubes of the swing away arm to prevent failure.

I also had to adapt for the bolt pattern change from 8x6.5" to 8x170mm.

Why don't you call Aluminess and find out what you need?

Re: 35" tire adapter for Aluminess swing away

I have an adapter plate for Superduty 8x170mm that doesn't fit my bumper or tires and I made my own instead out of aluminium. The tire must compress on the arm or the welds will crack, if you're DIY that's important.

Still have the plate if anyone is interested.

Re: 35" tire adapter for Aluminess swing away

Just give Aluminess a call. They were a huge help when I needed adapters to fit my 35" spare. I sent some measurements and they sent every thing I needed.
