5r110w

Local Ford Guy didn’t know what the “W” stands for. That makes two of us now.
Getting ready to do filters and fluid on my ‘04 E350 5R110W and stumbled across an improvement for fluid capacity and filtration. The improvement is to put an ‘08 pan and filter assy on my ‘04. Sounds good but local shop sounding board responses are not in favor. I think because it complicates things for future servicing.
I haven’t put my rig in the field yet, currently going through all systems, so I’m not really even sure if the fluid temp will be an issue. If anyone has a comment I’m all ears.

For what it's worth, when I had an '05 with a 5r110 I was going to do the same upgrade. Sold it before that happened though. Seemed like a no brainer.

Yep, it's a no brainer. The 6.4 pan fits the newer style internal filter which is much better filter than the toilet paper roll on the 6.0. You can keep the external filter as well. It's one of the cheapest upgrades on a 6.0 psd possible!

Just for informational purposes in case someone unaware is reading this thread -
2004 E350 w 6.0l diesel has the 5r110 tranny.
The 2004 V10 still was 4r100. v10 received the 5r110 starting 2005.
