Re: Air condition stuck in defrost?

That's interesting...a mouse. After I got my vehicle back from Freedom Ford I found a mouse had been in the van and now my vents switch slow. This is the 3rd time a Ford dealer has let mice into my van. I bought 2 rat zappers and will put them in anytime it goes back to a dealer.

Stuck on defrost is a vacuum leak failure- not a slow leak but a sliced tube, it defaults to defrost since not having that in winter would be the most dangerous condition.

It was a total failure and I noted that none of the flappers would work. I pulled the inner cowl and traced the vac all the way to the same place that Panion found his leak. Way up under the heater box. It's just the right spot for a mouse to jump up from the ground and get to it easy I guess. There is no way to fix it under there so I'll snake a new line thru from the inside. Thanks. Now on to hunting those pesky mice without peppering my paint with birdshot.

Re: Air condition stuck in defrost?

I've upgraded to these:

Plus I have dryer sheets tucked everywhere.

I've killed one mouse in the van and one in the house with the white enclosed traps- no mess as long as you check regularly. Despite all that, after finding a nest in the engine air box, I'm thinking of upgrading to ground warfare- as in traps on the ground around the van.

Re: Air condition stuck in defrost?

I really don't know if there is a way to keep em out of the engine area. Chewing on the Vac lines sucks no pun intended. Humane traps only work if you transport the critters over 20 miles away or they'll keep coming back. So far I've found sound devices and smell devices seem to be worthless. They traveled right by the dryer sheets. The only thing that works for me are my rat zappers and that just deals with the ones that come in by luring them to the trap. A high voltage perimeter barrier for small animals like mice would be cool. Some of the mice are cute but the damage they create is unreal much less the health hazard
