I have a porchlight but it looks like my ladder will clear it. I am going to check out FamVan5's van tomorrow and I will try to take a photo.

Also I suggest calling Aluminess. I have been too busy today to do that.

Hello Steve,

Just wondering if you figured anthing out on the placement of your ladder?

Bob,
I have not mounted mine yet but thanks to FamVan5 (Norm) I got to take a close look at his and here are some photos. His barely clears the porchlight (by a sixteenth or eight of an inch). I doubt all porchlights are in the exact same place. I will try mine this weekend.

keep in mind that in the photos you can see that Norm does not have the Bushwacker Flares, which I do. I can see how that forces one to mount the ladder further back.

Jeffrey or anyone else-if you have the bushwackers can you take a photo or two so we can see where/how yours is mounted?

Steve,

This is not my van, but another that I saw at SMB west. I hope this pic helps. My van is not at my house right now, and I will take better closeups in a few days for you.

Thanks Jeffrey.
when you have time a perpendicular shot would be good (to see the relationship to the bushwhacker flare) as well as a closeup of where the left bracket hits the rain gutter.

much appreciated.

Hello Steve and Jeffrey,

Thanks for the pics.
Steve, I have the fender flares also. I ordered another light, lower profile but it is way too large in diameter. so I will be repositioning the existing porch lite a littler lower as I mentioned before. Probably won't get to do it until after the holiday.
Also, I can't remember who I spoke with at Aluminess last week but he said that they place the bottom piece of the ladder assembly BEHIND the lip of of the fender and then clamp it in place. They then position the top piece of the ladder to the rain gutter and tighten it down and then drill the bottom.
Some of the pics of earlier posts show the bottom piece in front. though it probably doesn't matter.

Bob in Tucson, where it was 83 today.

Steve, it ain't that big of a deal. If you're looking face on, the ladder visually overlaps the flare. Just clamp it on the top position as shown on the white van, and the bottom will tell you where it is. Then clamp the bottom, and you're done.
