Aluminess swinging rack issue
Does anyone know of a solution to keep my Aluminess Deluxe box, and tire rack from swinging back into the rear doors? Thanks in advance...

Park level?
Not sure exactly what you're asking but my rear van doors and Aluminess riser arms have a series of stick on rubber bumpers. They keep the swing arms from contacting the doors or the bumper- at least metal to metal.

That would work....but can't rely on the level parking theory.
I noticed that the new Aluminess bumpers have a hole drilled in the swing arm, so you can drop a pin through the hole to secure the swing arms "out", and keep them out of the way of the van doors. So I'm wondering if anyone has come up with a solution to make this happen (because I don't have the newest bumpers).

I have Ford bumpers. My Aluminus box install included a place to put a pin. My spare tire holder made by them and installed by SMB West needed a pin also. I told Aluminus what I wanted and I was sure they would figure a way to do it and the did by doing some welding and drilling. I can now put in a pin to hold the tire out away from the SMB.

The Sportsmobile store carries an aluminess product designed to take care of this problem. I use two hard rubber dog toy balls that are slightly larger than a tennis ball. I just lodge them in a swing arm hinge and the arm stays put.

The Aluminess bumper pin locks available in the Sportsmobile store are one solution, but unless you have a good, smallish angle drill and stubby drill bits, it may be difficult to drill in the proper place. The swingarm supports on my bumper are in the way, making it difficult to align everything and drill. Just a heads up for that solution.
Otherwise, I've seen bungee cords, rope, etc. used.

This is exactly why I use the balls- I have the kit but there's no way I could drill the holes with the drill/bits I have so I scrapped the attempt.
