Thats what we do. Actually made a custom air hammer attachment just for this!
Yeah, good call - I used the one with a rounded point put it isn't quite long enough. Then I used it on the end of a punch of the right diameter (not ideal...).

I fought with mine for awhile before using an air chisel. I ground down an existing air chisel tip for this purpose. An air chisel can be had at harbor Freight for very cheap. Pops out in seconds with the chisel. (just be careful of the door)
