Ball joints, tire wear and alignment

I've noticed my front tires are wearing on the inside edges, possibly due to excess camber induced by worn ball joints. Mine don't seem to have a lot of play in them, but they do have a lot of miles. Several threads here recommend Dynatrac as the holy grail of ball joints but at a crazy high cost. Napa's seem to get good reviews and Moogs have been reported as suffering from quality issues as of late. So, anybody have any further input on preferred brands or their life span? Secondly, I have a Dana 44, do the ball joints have the ability to adjust camber (such as adjustable sleeves) I've looked and can't see anything, but I haven't had them apart yet. Any other ideas why I'm seeing tire wear on the inside edges of the front tires?

It uses an eccentric bushing just like the dana60 balljoint axles and the twin I-beam suspensions on the 2wd vans. They have an eccentric bushing that slides into the knuckle in the upper balljoint hole. Its directly underneath the nut that is used to tighten the upper balljoint stud. Some have a hex shape on top for a big wrench and others are just round. Usually they will be chuck full of chisel marks from mechanics beating them to death with a hammer and chisel to rotate them.

Had a front end alignment lately? I would wonder about negative camber as well.

Just curious if your weight distribution front/rear has changed recently? Was the van aligned with one configuration and has it changed since then?

Very well could be ball joints too however typically it'll be more one side than the other---even on the 2WD's its somewhat rare they both wear equally and affect the tires as you describe AT.

No change in weight at the moment, but I do think I'm getting more wear on the drivers side than the passenger side, so your theory may be correct. Time for ball joints I guess, now I just have to figure out what kind and size.
