Re: Cascadia Vehicle Tents (CVT) awning
Rick, mine are NOT the SMB type that bolt in to the body. They are the Zeta/Eli type. The bolts you see on the brackets are to pull the rear piece up against the front bracket and rain gutter.

Ahhh, gotcha. No worries, I just wanted to clarify. I don't dig those SMB brackets that put big holes in the side of the van. I skipped those because of their bad rep.

Re: Cascadia Vehicle Tents (CVT) awning
86Scotty / REF - Sorry to throw another line of dialogue/inquiry in to the thread here, thanks for the response.
I haven't been super impressed with the way these SMB-installed Fiamma awning brackets are bolted directly through the body of the van either, it seems there's quite a bit of potential for bending/torquing/distorting the sheetmetal of the van, especially in the rear as you mentioned. BUT....I'm kinda stuck with these brackets, since they're on there now, (unless I remove 'em, seal the holes, and start over.....)
So those CVT bag-style awnings are looking really attractive at the moment here too, motivated to see if I can mount one to these Fiamma brackets.

I just picked up one of these:
http://www.ebay.com/itm/221525167089?_t ... EBIDX%3AIT
As far as I can tell from the photos.....it appears to be a rebadged CVT/ARB. The legs use the exact same adjustment method/endcaps as the CVT pictured above. The outer bag is a medium/dark gray color.....which makes me think it might just be an ARB without the logos.
I paid $189 shipped for mine......not bad! I should be receiving the VS brackets today and installing over the weekend.

Anyone have an thoughts on how these bags hold up over time? Sun and weather exposure over time seems like it could be pretty rough on them.

I'm sure they are are as tough as any RV awning. They really don't get used enough to see that much abuse IMO. My last bag awning, which was a regular pop-up camper style in a white bag, looked like new still when I sold it, and I used it a lot. I don't think durability will be much of an issue. All parts are aluminum as well. I am curious how the black bag my CVT came in will hold up, since it is exposed, but it's very thick and zipper/etc. are great quality.

Re: Cascadia Vehicle Tents (CVT) awning
You guys are making me feel like I'm livin on the wrong side of the tracks with my 30 buck tarp room.
Guess I'll have to upgrade but I want it made from light weight nylon. At least what I have now stuffs into a foot long 10" diameter bag. I'd like to keep it small for haulin around.
