Cutting a steel bumper - suggestions?

Getting ready to install the Aluminess swingarm to my rig and it looks like I'll need to trim approx a 1/2" x 12" section of the back edge of the Reunel bumper so everything clears.

My question, if I get high quality metal specific saw blades for my jigsaw will it do the trick? FYI - the Reunel bumper is constructed w/ approx 1/4" steel plate.

thanks for the tips

Sawzall with bimetal blades. Clamp a piece of wood as a guide. The sawzall is worth having for all kinds of stuff.

I also like my air saw when cutting metal:

It seems to go through stuff like butter without heating or loading up, the cut is thinner but it's harder to go straight.

I've never used a jigsaw on metal, but high quality blades will probably work if the jigsaw base isn't too big to do the whole cut cleanly.

Ditto on the Super Sawzall suggestion. With a supply of good blades, it cuts metal like a hot knife through bud'r.

You'll need at least a Sawzall or maybe a cutting torch. Those reunel bumpers are like tanks, thick steel and heavy. You will certainly underestimate the work involved.

Thanks for the tips guys. I called a good friend who builds custom bike frames and he's going to give a hand with the trimming. He's got all the tools/torches etc...

Hopefully we can hook up over the weekend, I'll be sure to get some pics. Should be a 12 pack job at least....
